If you google the issue, you can find lots of shareware tools, which can do the job. But almost all of them are just demo version for free download and you have to buy them in order to be able to use them for any meaningful purpose. So, what is the solution if you want to open password protected pdf files for free.
PDFCrack – Open Source PDF Password Cracker
I just found a tool for doing that, but it is not for the Windows users. It is for the Linux users and works only in the command line mode. The GUI and Windows based version can be developed using Cygwin, but I was not able to find whether it has been done by somebody or not.
PDFCrack is a GNU/Linux (other POSIX-compatible systems should work too) tool for recovering passwords and content from PDF-files. It is small, command line driven without external dependencies. The application is Open Source (GPL).
